LESSON INFORMATION

Announcing BIG changes to the Ace-High Lesson Program.... with YOU in mind!

Lessons are available in all riding disciplines- hunt seat (on the flat and over fences), stock seat (western), saddle seat (formal english), side saddle, dressage, showmanship (halter), driving, game events (barrel racing, pole bending, etc.), and in other specialty events, such as reining, trail, native costume, show hack, etc.

We offer above average lesson horses that have a winning history in the show arena, so that students may relax at shows by showing the horses that they are used to riding at home. A lot, if not almost all of the barns in this area, teach riders just how to look pretty while sitting on the horse, and they forget the most important aspect of riding- how to actually ride. Ace-High’s instructors’ beliefs are form to function, meaning that the riders are taught to ride and handle all different types of situations, but how to look pretty and professional while doing it.

We offer lessons five days a week, on every day except Sunday and Monday. Monday the barn is closed to give the horses the day off. We offer individual or session (no longer package) pricing on lessons, to allow you to pick and choose what fits your schedule best. Lessons are taken on a weekly basis unless you choose to pay by the lesson which means that your time will change for each lesson. Lessons are available in half-hour or one hour lengths, which is the actual instruction time. Students are responsible for getting the barn at least fifteen minutes (for private lessons) or 30 minutes (for group lessons) before the start of their lesson in order to groom and get their horse ready before the start of the lesson, and they will be at the barn for fifteen to thirty minutes after their lesson in order to get the horse untacked, groomed, and put away. So a half-hour lesson is really an hour lesson when compared to the programs at other farms, who usually include these extra time items in the actual lesson.

CLOTHING

The student will need the following clothing items in order to take part in any of the education programs that we have at the farm:

1. Riding Pants (tight fitting jeans, breeches, or jodhpurs)
2. Boots with a ½ inch heel (no hiking boots, ABSOLUTELY NO TENNIS SHOES, SANDALS, CROCS, DRESS SHOES, OR RELATED REGULAR SHOES)
3. Tucked in shirt unless only to top of hip length
4. Little or no jewelry
5. ASTM and SEI approved RIDING helmet REQUIRED for all riders under 18 and ALL riders REGARDLESS of age while working over poles, jumping, or riding in the open. Helmets are available for use free of charge for all students.
6. Long hair MUST be pulled back in order for the helmets to fit properly

If a student does not follow the above clothing guidelines, they will not be able to ride until the necessary adjustments have been made. This is for the SAFETY OF THE STUDENT. At Ace-High Student Safety is PRIORITY NUMBER ONE! If the adjustments cannot satisfactorily be made for that lesson, the full price of the lesson will be charged even if the student is unable to participate in the lesson.

ABOUT US

Ace-High was founded in 1991 with the purpose of allowing people be able to accomplish their dreams with horses while being dedicated to education at its finest level. We serve all types of people from the show rider to the recreational rider, from the just starting out to the accomplished National Level Rider.

Ace-High is located on thirty acres in Hendersonville, Tennessee. We are conveniently located right off of Vietnam Veterans Boulevard. From downtown Nashville, we are approximately a fifteen minute drive.

We gladly except visitors BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. This is in order for us to be able to donate our time to showing you around our facilities and letting you get to know us better.

Starting Lessons with Ace-High

To start lessons with Ace-High, you will need the following for EACH person that is taking lessons: Session Application (NEW PROCESS), Release of Liability form, Student Information Form (for either adult or child), Student Riding History Questionnaire, Barn Guidelines, and the appropriate Introductory Package Sheet (if you are doing an introductory package).

Ace-High's new lesson program is set up in 6 week sessions much like a regular school. We have done this to be able to become more efficient in meeting our students' needs correctly. The types of lessons and general information has remained the same for the program. In order to find out about our new lesson program, please see the Riding School Information Brochure located HERE

Here is the power point from our meeting for parents and students about the new lesson program on December 20th and 22nd, 2007. Simply click the forward or reverse button to go from slide to slide. A button is also available to go back to the first slide or to go to the final slide. It does take some time to load, but you will be able to view all of the slides.

For a quicker way to access the power point, we have converted it to 6 slides to a page handouts and into a pdf file for quick review as the slide show is very much on the slow side. You may get the power point handouts by clicking HERE

In the new lesson program, students must register for each session of lessons by using the Session Application form for the session desired to be registered for. It must be filled out and returned to Ace-High one month from the starting date of the session (late registration is allowed and pro-rating of sessions for entry while the session is underway is also allowed) and accompanied by the payment in full (payment plans are available).

Click on the Session to get that Session's Application. Registration forms for all sessions are available on this page. It is very important to get your completed registration application and the total fees for the session to Ace-High as soon as possible. Time slots are not held from session to session, so unless your registration application is the first one for the time slot you are requesting, you will not receive it. Registration applications and payment in full MUST be received one month from the starting date of the session for all RETURNING students. NEW students may register for a session at ANY time, but if joining in the middle of the session, the session will either be pro-rated or will be at the pay by the lesson rates depending on the time of entry into the session.

For all new students to Ace-High the lessons will begin with more ground work than riding. The lesson time will be adjusted each lesson until the student is at the full riding time. This is done to ensure that all students regardless of if a beginner or advanced student know the same things, know how to handle our horses, and know what processes we use at Ace-High.

Please remember that there are no refunds for services used or unused as per our barn guidelines.
